LOCAL GOVERNMENT MINISTER SWORN IN AHAFO ANO NORTH CONSTITUENCY NEWLY ELECTED ASSEMBLY MEMBERS

 



In a momentous event at the forecourt of the municipal assembly in Tepa, the newly elected Assembly members of Ahafo Ano North Constituency were sworn in by the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Hon Dan Botwe. The ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the local governance of the municipality.


Hon Dan Botwe,emphasized the importance of collaboration among elected members, government appointees, and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to foster development in Ahafo Ano North. He lauded the constituency as one of the best-performing municipalities in the country, urging leaders to capitalize on its potential.


Addressing the gathering, Hon Dan Botwe provided insights into the workings of the Local Government Ministry, underlining its role in facilitating grassroots development. The minister's guidance served as a roadmap for the newly sworn-in assembly members, highlighting the need for cohesive efforts to uplift the constituency.


Dr Nana Adusei Atwenewa Ampem 1, the Chairman of the occasion, emphasized the imperative of collaboration and hard work. Despite the municipality's financial resources, he noted challenges such as poor road conditions and insufficient street lighting, calling for a united front to address these issues. Dr Nana Ampem 1 urged the newly elected members to transcend partisan politics and focus on municipal development.

ELECTION OF PRESIDING MEMBER FOR AHAFO ANO NORTH MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

The Ahafo Ano North Municipal Assembly exercised its Constitutional right of selecting a Presiding Member (PM) for the newly elected Assembly Members on the 21st of February, 2024 at the Municipal Assembly Hall. As enshrined in the Local Governance Act, 2016 (ACT 936), Section 17(4).  Though the Presiding Member should have been elected on the day of the inauguration, it was required by law that the Secretary of the house, announce the voting to be rescheduled since none of the aspirants had 2/3 of the total valid votes cast. Contestants for the position of the Presiding Member were Hon Yamson Ernest and Hon. Joseph Debrah,but hon Yamson Ernest step down from contesting.
